John Temple is pastor of First Baptist Church, Madison, Mississippi. In addition to serving as pastor, John has served as minister of education, and church business administrator in Mississippi, Alabama, and Virginia churches. John serves as a consultant in deacon ministry, church administration, Sunday school, and discipleship training. He has been a MasterLife co-leader. He recently helped plan the revision of MasterLife.
John's Doctor of Ministry project focused on the mobilization of laity in the ministry of witnessing. He has had articles appear in Sunday School Leadership and Church Training magazines. Other works have included a weekly newspaper column in the Cullman Tribune, “The Pastor Speaks.”
Dr. Temple is in great demand as a deacon retreat leader. He is a frequent seminar leader at Ridgecrest and Glorieta Conference Centers. He has led the state deacon conferences for Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina Baptist conventions. He is often busy with local church deacon retreats and is in great demand as a deacon retreat leader. His latest book is Unleasing the Power of Deacon Led Ministy Teams for LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville.
